Acrylic (II) Plant

Acrylic fibers are manufactured from a synthetic polymer known as acrylonitrile, a petrochemical substance. Due to their low breathability, acrylic fibers are commonly used in products that require heat retention properties, such as athletic wear, machine-made carpets, winter clothing, and blankets.

Polyacryl Iran is currently the sole domestic producer of acrylic fibers, with an annual production capacity of approximately 60,000 metric tons, fulfilling a substantial portion of the market demand. Acrylic fibers are produced in two facilities within Polyacryl Iran: Acrylic (I) and Acrylic (II), utilizing both dry and wet spinning methods.

Acrylic (II) employs solution polymerization in dimethylformamide (DMF) solvent and wet spinning technology licensed from SNIA Italy. The plant comprises two identical production lines, each with an annual capacity of 18,000 metric tons, totaling 36,000 metric tons. The fibers produced exhibit a bean-shaped cross-section and demonstrate high resistance to sunlight and environmental factors.

To cater to market demands, Acrylic (II) produces three primary categories of fibers:

  • Acrylic staple fiber
  • Acrylic tow
  • Specialty acrylic products (superwhite acrylic fibers, colored fibers, staple fibers with varying cut lengths, antimicrobial fibers, and blended staple fibers)
